You really are going to have your work cut out for you today if you are planning on placing a bet on the US Open, for I say that with a great deal of confidence for there are so many golfers taking part in it and the odds on all of them are so high, you will need to beat the odds to pick out the most likely win.
However, as far as what you would call the smart money has been going on regarding the golfers that punters fancy the chance of much more than any others, well it is both Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy at 9/1 that are heading the early betting markets right now.
Those odds may seem high on the two joint favourites, but the odds attached to all others are much higher of course, and any of those that are higher up the betting markets could go on to win, so you will need to study the form of quite a lot of them if you are to make sense of this tournament.
As for three other golfers that I certainly would not put you off backing, if you do rate any of them, well you have the likes of Brooks Koepka who is currently trading at odds of 10/1, Tiger Woods is always going to attract support and he is a 12/1 shot right now and then you have Patrick Cantlay at 18/1 who could go on to win this year without having to improve too much on his current form.
BetFred Paying Out to Eight Places
Most if not all of our featured and approved betting sites will have their own betting markets and their own set of odds available on each golfer in this year's 2026 US Open, but what does make the BetFred betting site stand out to punters are their each-way betting terms.
You are going to be paid out on the place part of any each-way bet you place on the US Open betting market at one fifth of the win odds, but the best part about that bookies each-way betting terms is that this year they are paying out to eight places too.
Other Golfers Currently Being Backed
It will be the amount of risk you want attached to your bets and wagers that you end up placing on this year's US Open, for I do feel most punters will be getting the best value by backing a few golfers each-way.
As for just which ones are worth betting, well there are plenty of them that are good enough to win a golf tournament like this and they include the likes of Jordan Spieth who is easy to back at odds of around 22/1 and there is also a good case to be made for Justin Thomas who is 25/1.
Some 28/1 shots that are in with a chance are Justin Rose, Rickie Fowler and Xander Schauffele are and as long as you fancy the chances of the likes of Jon Rahm, Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama you can back any of them at odds of around the 33/1 mark.
